Uranus square Pluto and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"

The release of the seventh Harry Potter movie “ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part I” on November 19, 2010 was a particularly striking archetypal manifestation of the current Uranus square Pluto transit. It embodies all the archetypal qualities of Uranus and Pluto together so magnificently.

The trailer for this movie could very well be a trailer for the Uranus/Pluto transit. Right from the start of the trailer, the Warner Bros. trademark stands in the midst of thick, menacing clouds (Pluto) with some lightning going off in the background (Uranus) while a voice says: “These are dark times, there’s no denying”. We are then hit with quick classic Plutonic images: The cave-shaped headquarters of the Ministry, Voldemort looking at the dead Dumbledore, a crypt mysteriously opening, massive destruction, chaos, an up-close view of Voldemort's snake, Nagini, opening her mouth ready to devour yet another victim. The Plutonian figure, Voldemort, completely embodies this Uranus/Pluto archetype in the final scene of the trailer when we see him unleash an enormous lightning bolt.

J.K. Rowlings is herself born with a tight <2 degree conjunction of Pluto and Uranus. I would venture it is a triple conjunction of Pluto, Uranus and the Moon even though we can’t be completely sure without an exact birth time.

Her ability to conjure up such deeply underworld figures such as Voldemort, and equally dark and menacing figures such as Snape, and convey the power of these characters to her readers, via the medium of books, so successfully around the world would strongly indicate an operative Pluto/Moon aspect. In addition, it is not only the ability to imagine those characters, but also the ability to have readers feel them so keenly is reflective of Pluto/Moon.

Here, we have an example of Pluto/Moon in operation for whom we actually do have a birth time and therefore, we know the exact placement of her Moon: The actress, Meryl Streep, has Pluto square Moon in a very tight <1 degree orb in her natal chart. Using film, instead of books, Streep has managed throughout her long acting career to bring that emotional power and intensity to her roles that a Pluto/Moon aspect confers that has made her an Oscar winner many times over.

Come this July 15th, we are in for an even more intense manifestation of Uranus/Pluto with the last, and final chapter, of the “Harry Potter” series being released in the U.S. As Uranus forms an even tighter square to Pluto (1 degree+), we will witness the final climax between good and evil.

As Voldemort embodies the dark side of the Pluto/Uranus complex, Harry Potter, is the light side of the Yang/Yin polarity. He is our Uranian hero who has been sent many times to the Underworld. As is the trajectory with Pluto, what starts as a trip to the Underworld ends in some type of resurrection. I can’t wait to see the final chapter and, at the same time, I am sorry that the “Harry Potter" series is coming to a close. It has been one wonderful Uranus/Pluto journey!!

  1. Shame on me, I couldn't get through the second Potter book because of my aversion to competitive sports (drawn out Quiddich battles). However, this was magnificent writing and deeply insightful. If this is an example of what is to come, your site will produce itself. Bravo for the eloquent writing - I don't know how you have time to do it!
